R&B fans rejoice, it appears we might finally have a new album from D’Angelo. In a recent interview with Billboard, Kevin Liles, who serves as D’Angleo’s manager, said the highly-awaited follow up to Voodoo is “97 percent done.” However, as Billboard points out, this isn’t the first time he’s told them the album was nearly complete. Call us hopeful, but we’re going to go ahead and believe Liles is right about the release this time around. Read a couple of quotes from the interview, which also makes mention of a potential tour from D’Angelo, below, and stay tuned for more information regarding the album that has been more than a decade in the making.
“There’ll be an album this year: there’s 14 records so far, we might have a couple of bonus records, but all the recording is basically done and we’re mixing and mastering now. Definitely, he’ll be back.
“We’ll probably start an international tour in October, we’ll come back [to the States]. We’re doing a James Brown tribute in August [at the Hollywood Bowl] and some one-off things. But the touring will probably start in October and 2015.”
