The Return of Michael Jackson on Stage at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards

Coinciding with Michael Jackson‘s posthumous album Xscape, the King of Pop returned to the stage in the form of a hologram for the 2014 Billboard Music Awards. Performing his latest single “Slave to the Rhythm” at MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, the performance was heralded as a “once in a lifetime Michael Jackson experience” despite some legal issues cropping up prior to the event. Following the patent dispute over the hologram technology and its ownership, it’s now confirmed that Hologram USA and Musion Das Hologram received patents for the Michael Jackson performance after purchasing the company that was behind the Tupac hologram performance at Coachella in 2012.
