The three-part docuseries, directed by Nick Green, revisits the 2003-2005 trial that captivated millions and ended with Jackson’s acquittal on all charges, reconstructing the case through new interviews with the people who were actually inside the courtroom when it happened.
The documentary’s central premise is also its most compelling editorial decision. No cameras were allowed inside the courtroom during the Michael Jackson trial, which means that everything the public absorbed about one of the most watched legal proceedings in modern American history arrived filtered: through commentary, through selective reporting, through the particular lenses of outlets that covered the case piecemeal over two years. Nick Green and executive producer Fiona Stourton approached the project as a forensic historical account rather than a retrospective.
