SSUR channels some nostalgia for ‘old’ New York in its latest collection, tapping none other than the WATCHxWITNESS collective to shoot the lookbook. The “Coney Island” photoset, naturally, takes to the Brooklyn neighborhood to shoot the range of summer garb. Within the collection, messages like “No Sleep ‘Till Brööklyn” go beyond the modern definition to the city’s Dutch roots, while craft-looking patchwork on sweaters references 1970s street gang culture. Of course, no New York-inspired collection would be complete without reference to its unofficial sport – handball – for which SSUR has produced balls. Look for the “Coney Island” collection to drop online and at SSUR’s New York flagship soon.
