LMFAO Question Rick Ross Lawsuit

Back in January, news arrived that Rick Ross was suing LMFAO for copyright infringement for their use of “Everyday I’m shufflin’” in their 2010 hit “Party Rock Anthem.” The lawsuit claims it rips off his lyric, “Everyday I’m hustlin’” from his single “Hustlin’.” The party music duo has now responded back. Although they admit they were giving Ross’s lyrics a certain spin, they claim it’s fair use. Adding more fire to the fuel, the band even went so far to question Rozay’s street credibility as they mentioned his past as a corrections officer and claiming that his bad-ass persona is actually a fake. Given the huge success of the “Party Rock Anthem,” the amount of money that is at the center of discussion is beyond huge. The lawsuit reads:

“The phrase is performed in a manner to sound like” Ross’ own, and “is an obvious attempt to capitalize on the fame and success of Hustlin’. The phrase is so important to the success of ‘Party Rock Anthem,’ that LMFAO launched a highly successful clothing line, Party Rock Clothing, that features the phrase on T-shirts and other clothing items.”
