Indian-American standout director Kahlil Joseph matches KENZO‘s high-quality production with a dreamlike new short film, showcasing the brand’s Spring/Summer 2014. The film, dubbed “Dawn in Luxor,” interposes images of (presumably) African royalty with the lineage’s passage through time to the modern day. There’s a certain sense of regal descent within the characters throughout, especially notable with the juxtaposition of a queen-like artifact with a rather lovely restaurant hostess. KENZO’s ‘fish’ and ‘ocean’ motifs for the season carries over in subtle ways, and through either sound or small visual cues, seamlessly connect this interesting short clip. Enjoy the above.
