Yasiin Gaye - Ms. Fat Booty

Nashville artist Amerigo Gazaway has been conjoining the works of artists from different generations with his “Soul Mates” series, and is set on “creating collaborations that never were.”  For his Yasiin Gaye project, which meshes the work of Marvin Gaye with Yasiin Bey (Mos Def), the producer has created a video to go along with one of the productions he crafted. The video takes footage of Gaye’s live performances, and merges them with Bey’s original music video. His version of “Ms. Fat Booty” is heavily indebted to the soulful swing of Marvin Gaye’s time, and the complimentary placement of Yasiin Bey’s vocals on the song should serve as a reminder that hip-hop still hasn’t strayed too far away from its original roots.
