The Dream - Black

On the heels of the announcement that Clippers owner Donald Sterling is officially banned from the NBA, The Dream has come out with a video relevant to all issues surrounding today’s news cycle. Entitled “Black,” Dream poignantly states  ”Classism is the New Racism” on the the track’s YouTube description, and proceeds to break down that declaration throughout the song’s visual and audio presentation.  The lyrics appear across the screen as clips from everything from gay rights protests to Mandela speeches to Pussy Riot marches are shown.  The likes of disgraced cattle rancher Cliven Bundy, Vladimir Putin, and Sterling himself are shown in a montage alongside an expression from Dream’s mother stating “never be impressed with a man with no message.” You can check out the video for yourself above.
