LA beat-builder Salva has been gaining a great deal of acclaim on a large-scale since his RL Grime-aided remix of “Mercy” destroyed radiowaves and blogs in 2012, having blazed through the national festival circuit and been featured as a guest on mainstream radio powerhouses such as LA’s Power 106 within just a two-year run. Continuing his rise to the top, the producer is following up the launch of his new record label Peacemaker with the release of “Drop That B*tch,” a speaker-shaking production that unites west coast hip-hop all-stars Kurupt, Schoolboy Q, Problem and Bad Lucc. “Drop That B*tch” is a lot less like the dance-trap Salva has received mainstream recognition for and more like a hybrid production that bridges the generational gap between old and new school. There are bits from Eazy-E’s classic west coast anthem “Boyz-n-the-Hood,” hard-hitting bass tailored towards slow-speed cruises through California streets, and a modernized bounce all rolled into one chrome-cast cut of westside riding music.
