Wolfgang Beltracci‘s story is that of a true hustler. From the 1990s through 2011, Beltracci and his wife were able to fool the world’s premier art experts, selling millions of dollars (about $46 million, to be exact) worth of ‘fake’ art around the world. Interesting too is the fact that none of the paintings are exact forgeries of existing paintings – Beltracci mastered the styles of everyone from Kees van Dongen to Max Ernst and created, in a sense, original work. CBS’ 60 Minutes has an engaging piece on the scope of Beltracci’s scam, and further, its affects on an art community shaken in his wake. Enjoy the video above.
