Just ahead of the Baselworld 2014 watch and jewelry trade show, renowned furniture designer Fabian Schwaerzler presents Zurich-based Maurice de Mauriac with a special edition of its L1 timepiece. Having never designed a watch before, Schwaerzler stuck to what he knew best, opting for simplicity and functionality. The result is an uncluttered 39mm stainless steel case with a brushed finish paired with a simple black and white watch face that glows blue in the dark. Inside, the L1 houses an ETA 2824-2 automatic movement visible on the underside of the engraved case. The watch will retail for 2,300 CHF (approximately $2,600 USD) when it debuts at Baselworld at the end of March.
