It looks like Frank Ocean may have to face the new year with a lawsuit, as the singer/songwriter may now be the target of copyright claims over the sampling of Mary J. Blige‘s “Real Love” in his “Super Rich Kids” tune, featuring Earl Sweatshirt. According to record label TufAmerica, they own the track “Impeach the President” by The Honeydrippers — which was sampled in Blige’s track and makes up 3.15% of Blige’s song — meaning that the lawsuit will essentially be about the use of a sample within a sample. TufAmerica has also laid claims against Jay Z, Kanye West and Beastie Boys in the past. Listen to “Super Rich Kids” below.
