BMW is no stranger to the art world. For more than 35 years, the Bavarian company has commissioned some of the world’s leading artists to create masterpieces using BMW cars as their canvas. And now, BMW is looking to foster a new generation of artists with the establishment of the Art Journey Award. Announced at this year’s Art Basel in Miami Beach, the award is designed to spark the fires of emerging artists by enabling them to go on their own journey of personal discovery and creative expression. The chosen artist can travel to almost any part of the world, with support and a mobile studio provided by BMW. They’ll have the freedom to research new ideas, gain perspective, and ultimately take their work to the next level. The Art Journey Award is open to any emerging artist with work on display at Art Basel in Miami Beach and Hong Kong, and while an artist’s passion and creative ambition are vital to winning over the jury of international experts, a predilection for BMW over Mercedes is, thankfully, not.
