After much speculation ado in his near two-year absence from the limelight, Frank Ocean quietly took to Tumblr to gift eager fans with new work on Thanksgiving. The piece, titled “Memrise,” is a particularly lo-fi, fragmented number that seems an ode to a lover past. The title, perhaps interpreted as a play on both ‘memorize’ and ‘sunrise’ – or waking up with the memory of an old partner – is a powerful, yet somber term that potentially signifies a more brooding aesthetic from the California native.
