Chicago-based designer and artist Cody Hudson has become widely recognized for his creations of clean, multidimensional graphics, with elements of urban modernism and abstract compositions of shapes. His innovative graphic work and paintings have been exhibited throughout the U.S., Europe, and Japan in numerous museums and galleries. Adding to the list of achievements, Hudson is also the founder of Stuggle Inc., a commercial art house known mostly for his graphic work where he produces album covers, logos and clothing for a string of clients such as Stussy, Nike, A-Trak and The Cool Kids. Regardless of his great success as an artist, Hudson humbly admits that he cannot draw. Instead, doodles have become his personal style and way of expressing candid emotions. For this latest Pen & Paper feature, we take a closer look at his fine art interpretation of hand drawings. His simple yet distinctive style is stripped of all adornments yet results in a surprisingly organic result. Enjoy the images above to get a sense of Hudson’s approach through the subtle drawings.
