After his work was displayed at the Library Street Collective gallery just earlier this week, Dave Kinsey continues his Detroit residency-of-sorts with a new mural. The Michigan metropolis, currently in an infrastructural renaissance, still plays home to a host of abandoned buildings in its once-bustling downtown. This of course has played a major factor in the art revival of the city, going so far as to attract global street artists to a glorified concrete canvas. As a part of Library Street Collective’s “The Z Project,” Kinsey applied his penchant abstract geometric style to the side of a 10-story garage, intended to “convey strength and inspiration to the people of Detroit” – a sentiment well captured by photographer Jerry Buttles. Enjoy the photo set above, and if in the Detroit area, don’t miss “The Z Project” or Kinsey’s “Cushion of Memory” show at LSC.
