An original prototype of the Nike Waffle Trainer, one which Bill Bowerman himself developed in the ’70s, has been auctioned off for $1,500 USD. At the time of its development, the shoe featured an innovative waffle tread sole that Bowerman made using his wife’s waffle iron. The shoes in question were purchased by Jordan Geller, the owner of the ShoeZeum in Las Vegas, and will be on display alongside the thousands of other pairs housed in the museum’s collection.
