Taking a couple of cues from army standard issues, slick French stalwart Balmain releases a first look at its Fall/Winter 2014 goods. The brand, under the command of youthful creative director Olivier Rousteing, channels the stoic, distinguished attitude of 20th century officers for an array of dapper garb. Here we find iconic double-breasted lapels executed on lined jackets, while elsewhere cargo pockets, oversized knit ball buttons and shoulder loops are all subtle hits that set the pieces apart. Sticking to a predominantly olive green and black color palette, this new offering from Balmain is overwhelmingly smooth, walking the balance between formal and casual.
