Sony has officially unveiled its latest entry in the world of compact system cameras: the Alpha NEX-5T. Featuring a stylish and ultra-compact design, the Alpha NEX-5T offers the “creative capabilities of interchangeable lenses with large-sensor image quality, speedy Auto Focus (AF) and the convenience of NFC (Near Field Communication) one-touch for easier Wi-Fi connectivity.” Equipped with a 16.1 megapixel Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor – nearly identical to those found in your prototypical DSLR cameras – the Alpha NEX-5T comes standard with a compact SELP1650 motorized zoom lens and is currently compatible with 16 different lenses from Sony’s interchangeable E-mount range – including a number of premium Carl Zeiss and G Lenses. Retailing for $700 USD with the SELP1650 lens or $550 USD for the body alone, the Alpha NEX-5T is now available for pre-order in silver, black and white color options via Sony’s own online store. A tentative release date is currently set for September 8.
