Lately, Saint Laurent has been able to reach an arguably wider audience under the creative direction of one Hedi Slimane, whose glitzy, rock-inspired vision has permanently changed the direction of the brand. Here we find Saint Laurent continuing on this path, tapping Fletcher and Wyatt Shears to sport the brand’s Fall/Winter 2013 collection. The range is chock full of nods to music – a decidedly black color palette is used to execute varsity jackets, slim leather pants zippered at the knees, pinstripes, and even flannel come together to create a ‘greatest hits’ of rock star fashion. Notably, Slimane created a hand-drawn-style patterning which adorns draping jackets, in the same movement poking at tuxedos by cropping the silhouette’s waist.
