Film and literature heavyweights collide as Oscar-winning director Ridley Scott has teamed up with Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Cormac McCarthy – of No Country for Old Men, The Road, Blood Meridian and Border Trilogy fame – for The Counselor. Directed and co-produced by Scott from an original screenplay by McCarthy, the film stars Michael Fassbender as a lawyer who ultimately ends up in way over his head when he becomes involved in drug trafficking. Featuring an all-star cast of Penelope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Javier Bardem and Brad Pitt in supporting roles, The Counselor looks to be yet another exploration of the themes of violence, mortality, love and good vs. evil that have marked McCarthy’s celebrated works. The Counselor is set to hit theaters this fall.
