With his major label debut album earning classic honors early on, Kendrick Lamar‘s good kid, m.A.A.d city has now also achieved platinum status. Kendrick was presented with his platinum plaque on stage last night, signifying that the LP had recorded over 1 million copies sold. With his featured verse on Big Sean’s “Control” single not only raising the awareness of the Compton emcee, it looks like it also contributed to a spike in sales of GKMC, as the album re-entered back into the Billboard Top 40 last week. The award was surely overdue, and we’d like to send out a special congratulations to both Kendrick and his TDE family.
