Banoffee - Ninja
It appears Lorde isn’t the only young female indie artist to pay attention to from down under.
It appears Lorde isn’t the only young female indie artist to pay attention to from down under. Today we’re introduced to Melbourne singer Banoffee through her song “Ninja.” The song premiered today along with an Alice Glenn-directed music video on Pigeons & Planes. Watch Banoffee’s debut visuals and learn a little bit more about talented young singer by reading the quote below.
Banoffee is the sweet solo sound of Martha Brown (Otouto), a Melbourne songwriter with a keen ear for vintage synthesizers and modern R-n-B.
Banoffee’s music recalls the balearic sounds of the 1980s and the futurist space of UK bass music, merging with her own arresting take on R’n'B, a musical place where Detroit inspired synths end up in love songs that sound distinctly modern.
Her debut single Ninja twists and starts, Martha’s voice taking you where you’d least expect. Regular collaborator Alice Glenn accompanies the song with a hypnotic and intimate clip shot in an otherworldly warehouse space.
Two Bright Lakes is very excited to be releasing the first of Banoffee’s music to the world, beautifully crafted, esoteric pop music from a strong female voice.
