For some, soccer is more so a way of life than a traditional ‘sport.’ Not unlike skateboarding, soccer has a way of becoming the lens through which we see urban landscapes, as trashcans, backpacks or heck, even coffee cups can become goalposts for an impromptu 3-a-side game. Perhaps Dan Gribbon understands this better than anyone, and in 2011 fused his love for design with a lifelong passion for the world’s most beloved game – resulting in clothing and apparel label 3nil. Though originally based in Melbourne, Australia, 3nil aims to capture the ubiquity of soccer, and as such ventured to Berlin, Germany to shoot its latest video lookbook. Photographer Ryu Voelkel, web designer Andrew Weber and videographer Jim Elson teamed up to capture the subtleties of Berlin’s soccer culture – playing pickup on the streets, tinkering at foosball, and of course, having a kölsch while watching a match – this fun video by 3nil is perfectly sensitive to how global soccer truly is.
