The legal battle continues between two musical heavyweights and their respective companies. In case you haven’t heard, will.i.am is contending that Pharrell‘s “i am OTHER” brand, which produces a number of popular web series, is an infringement on his “I AM” trademark, which he has held since 2001 and uses in conjunction with several of his companies, including the “I AM ANGEL” charities. While the dispute has been going on for several months, now Pharrell wants a legal solution in order to solve the dilemma once and for all. In legal papers filed Monday in Manhattan, the singer-songwriter seeks a declaratory judgement of non-infringement. A judgement of this sort would not require actions from either party, but would declare that no infringement was made. While it is unfortunate that the two artists have come into a dispute of this sort, we look forward to an amicable solution and will be sure to keep you up to date.
