Japanese department store Tokyu Hands was established in 1976 as an original do-it-yourself store offering a wide array of products from those that support the foundations of its customers’ lives to products that provide pleasure and enrichment. It now currently operates 30 stores across Japan and Taiwan, where some can house up to 30,000 items, provide free workshops and even a café devoted to our feline friends. Through Monocle’s well-traveled lens we’re presented with a look inside Tokyu Hands’ Tokyo superstore as still shots are accompanied by a brief outline of the retailer’s history.
