Hoodie Allen is currently hard at work on his upcoming mixtape Crew Cuts, but taking a moment to show fans what he’s got in the works, he drops off a video for his new single “Cake Boy.” Playing off the track’s theme, the video sees the New York-bred emcee spitting his lyrics in a pastry delivery truck alongside some lovely assistants. Allen’s new mixtape is set to include features from G-Eazy, Jared Evan, Chance The Rapper and Chiddy Bang, and in a press release he went on to share the following in regards to the new project and video:
Since All American came out in April, I’ve been working non-stop to give a free project back to my fans to thank them for their overwhelming support. I could have never imagined hitting #1 on iTunes and truly the love from fans and blogs alike helped change my career in 2012. Set to drop February 20th, Crew Cuts is my new free album and I think my most diverse and interesting project to date.
Today, I’m excited to present you with “Cake Boy”, the first single and music video off of Crew Cuts. “Cake Boy” is a braggadocios, lyrical tongue twister produced by legendary hip hop producer !llmind (Kanye West, 50 Cent, Royce Da 5’9). The video is a visually popping and endlessly re-playable dream day in the life of a cupcake delivery boy (played by yours truly). If you like sexy girls and you like the Food Network: this is your music video.
