Just recently, Franck Ribery, Blaise Matuidi, Yohan Cabaye and Raphael Varane of France’s national football team, finished their game by walking out onto the pitch before a packed crowd of ecstatic fans wearing the new Nike national kit they will take to Brazil and the World Cup next year.
Designed to combine cultural authenticity with Nike’s technical innovation, the kits feature Nike Dri-FIT tech with laser-cut ventilation holes to promote added cooling while a cotton and recycled polyester construction ensure enhanced moisture-wicking. As an added result of Nike’s commitment to sustainability, the shirt, shorts and socks will all feature fabric made with recycled plastic bottles.
Naturally, with France’s reputation for style, the aesthetic design of the kit was an absolute must. Keeping France’s heritage tightly woven into the kit’s style, the fabric detail was inspired by Nîmes, a southern French city and the birthplace of modern denim. The collar was also given particular attention with the addition of a side-hem and selvedge-like accent. Finally, the crest was inspired by the 1958 design and is embroidered just above the heart.
The French National Team kit will be available at Nike stores and at nike.com starting on December 5.
