With Kendrick Lamar claiming the title of GQ‘s “Rapper of the Year,” today the magazine awards its “Hitmaker of the Year” to none other than Pharrell Williams. Having provided tracks for the likes of Jay Z, Beyoncé, Miley Cyrus, Tyler, the Creator, Earl Sweatshirt, Pusha T and plenty more throughout the year, P has definitely had one heck of a year behind the boards. In addition to the previously stated contributions, Pharrell also had a hand in two of this year’s biggest singles, Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” and Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” when asked on his take of the singles P went on to share the following:
Both songs are for people who need a break. There’s a lot of fucked-up travesty in the world. Sometimes you just need a Hallmark card. Sometimes you just need to shake your ass.
