A protegé of the internet, Lil Debbie‘s trajectory in hip-hop began with her cameo appearance in Kreayshawn’s hit “Gucci Gucci.” While both ex-White Girl Mob members may still be on non-speaking terms, Lil Debbie continues to take over the blogsphere with audaciousness in both her rap and dress sense. Often referred to as the female counterpart to RiFF RaFF, the two released a number of songs together, with the likes of ”SQUiRT” and “Brain Freeze & Michelle Obama” racking up folds of YouTube impressions. Blending Houston’s codeine-fueled culture with a fashion conscious swagger from Fairfax, LA, Lil Debbie stands strong in the new school, never shying far from colorful language and debauchery content in her cheeky deliverance. For her Music Essentials, Queen D presents a list of items essential to both her musical endeavors and lifestyle. In addition to endorsing a pair of Nike Cortez’s for foot patrol, the rapper shares with us her production tools, alongside records from Macka Diamond, Webbie and Juvenile — influences intrinsic to her gritty rap demeanor. Like any Los Angeles-based herb enthusiast, Debbie keeps a G-Pen close, while her penchant for retro video consoles shows that technology can’t substitute certain timeless gadgets. For 2013 fall, Queen D is set to release California’s Sweetheart mixtape — stay tuned for more on the drop.
