With her brand new mixtape, Blank Canvas, Little Simz lets it be known that there’s a new female MC to watch out for. This one, though, is only 19 years old and already has her city of London on her side. With the support of such key players as BBC 1Xtra’s DJ Semtex and the most famous broadcaster of the moment, Radio 1’s Zane Lowe, Simz’s movement is rapidly growing in the UK and trickling over to the States, too. For many, Blank Canvas will serve as an introduction to the young rapper and musician, but that seems to be okay with her. “The whole idea behind Blank Canvas is that we as individuals are basically blank canvases,” she told Life + Times. “As we go through life, the experiences we have are like the paint and strokes that help to mold us and become the creation of our painting.” The more experiences you have, the more you have to tell people—right, Simz?
