It seems like the extensive negotiations have come to an end as news have emerged that the Entourage movie is about to happen. The HBO show’s creator and screenwriter, Doug Ellin, tweeted “It’s a go. Love you all,” alongside a photo of the cast. Holdouts in the deal-making process – namely Adrian Grenier, Jerry Ferrara, Kevin Dillon, Kevin Connolly — are on the verge of signing on. Studio sources state that the deals are still not closed but all the camps are confident. Ferrara appeared on The Wendy Williams Show Monday night to promote his new movie, Las Vegas, where he said that the Entourage movie is “looking real good” and a deal for it “could be closed today.” Arguably the show’s favorite character, Ari Gold, almost remained absent from the project as its actor Jeremy Piven was initially unsure about reprising his role, but eventually agreed to sign the deal. Piven, who’s always had a more lucrative deal than his co-stars, negotiated a more generous back-end participation than anticipated and his colleagues wanted something more equitable. That deal-making protracted and the movie was in jeopardy of seeing the window for its California film tax credit disappear, something that Warner Bros. deemed conditional for its making. Production is likely to start in January.
