Returning from his travels to the kingdom of Bhutan, Louis Vuitton style director Kim Jones curates a dashing collection titled “The Magic Mountain” with strong influences from the orient. Jones notes “the collection is often an actual journey…it comprises what you take with you and what you bring back both physically and mentally from the experience.” Through encountering snow leopards and tigers, a number of classic trench coats and jackets adopt the collection’s signature print design with additional faux-fur embellishments Elsewhere, cashmere blankets are tailored into ponchos, borrowing Himalayan dress motifs. While well-fitted velvet suits, alongside bags and robes, receive traditional pattern renditions, blending the dichotomy of two polarized cultures. Encompassing narratives in mountaineering outerwear, bulging technical silhouettes are blended with classic Louis Vuitton tailoring, overall showing the French fashion house’s diversity in exploring new landscapes without ignoring their heritage aesthetics.
