Over the past two decades, sneaker boutique Hanon has cultivated itself a reputation as one of the prime retailers of rare shoes and envious collaborations. They’ve recently joined forces with adidas for an updated take on the long disappeared CNTR. The shoe pays tribute to Hanon’s hometown of Aberdeen – with both the colorway and material application inspired by the city’s surroundings which were historically built from locally-quarried granite. A town of two faces, in the winter Aberdeen can feel quite bleak, whilst in summer the buildings come alive and evoke a silver charm that gives the architecture of the city its unique warmth and character. Executed in suede, mesh and nubuck, the grey upper of the shoe model depicts the seasonal change of Aberdeen’s landscape. At the rear of the shoe there is a dark grey suede with a heavy nap representing the gloom of winter which is offset by a dual-layered silver mesh and light grey nubuck that leans towards the fairer months of the year. Additional features appear by way of Aberdeen’s red accents, “granite” three stripes and multi-print sock liner. The Hanon x adidas Consortium CNTR will release in store on January 26 and at select Consortium accounts on February 2.
