Signal Snowboards Create a Custom Wheelchair Snowboard for Tim Ostler
Former professional snowboarder Tim Ostler’s career was tragically cut short on December 29, 2000
Former professional snowboarder Tim Ostler‘s career was tragically cut short on December 29, 2000 when, on his last run, he sustained a broken neck and was paralyzed from the waist down. Having not been on a board since, David Lee and the Signal Snowboards crew took it upon themselves to craft a custom board that would allow Ostler to indulge his passion once again. Working in conjunction with Crankbrothers Mountain Bikes, the team set about crafting a snowboard/wheelchair hybrid that would allow the former great to carve up the powder from a seated position. Watch as the hybrid snowboard slowly takes shape, hitting a few bumps in the road on the way, before finally hitting the slopes with Ostler at the helm.
