Sony is taking full advantage of the most current iteration of the Android 4.0 platform with its soon-to-be released Xperia SL phone. The electronics giant is pulling out all the stops with this new update to the flagship Xperia S, starting with the phone’s super-fast 1.7 GHz Qualcomm dual-core processor (for reference, the Apple iPhone 4S clocks in around a variable 1 GHz) hidden beneath a 1280 x 720 pixel touchscreen capable of displaying up to 16 million colors. The phone’s blazing processing power also makes it an impressive media machine, and Sony has equipped it with a 12.1 megapixel camera with a 16x digital zoom and pulsed LED flash. That camera is also the key to Face Unlock — a new SL feature that lets you unlock the phone by simply waving it in front of your face. The Xperia SL will also be fitted with plenty of battery power, allowing you to take on longest conversation, music listening session, or movie. While Sony is content to only hint that the SL is “coming soon,” to tide you over, you can check out the full gallery of shots here.
