The modular lifestyle found in minimal housing isn’t for everyone, but that hasn’t made the concept any less popular. However, the Austrian designers at Studio WG3 think that an easily transportable and self-sufficient modular unit could be the next big concept in tourism, by essentially providing travelers with “prepaid apartments.” The Hypercubous is designed around a need-based model of mobility and sufficiency on locally existing resources. These highly stylized and modern yurts could revolutionize the European ski and backpacking industries, as entire communities of the units could be quickly transported to areas with greater demand without compromising basic amenities and comfortable accommodations to the renters.
