The first UK-based Christian Louboutin retrospective celebrates the great Parisian shoe designer at the Design Museum in London. Spanning two decades, the exhibition reveals Louboutin’s influence on shoe design–particularly the high heel. Louboutin, famed for his red-soled stilettos, has evoked burlesque icon Dita Von Teese for a stunning 3D holographic centerpiece commemorating his earliest design inspiration: the showgirl. While his work was largely women-centric, the French designer also designed for men. This exhibition explores his design process and expounds on the production journey that has dressed many afoot. It runs for 10 weeks from May 1 to July 9, 2012.
