It’s been 13 years since BMW delved into the SUV market without so much as a peek back at a past lineup that focused primarily only on luxury coupes and sedans. The arrival of the BMW X1 to the U.S. coincides with an update that includes exterior and interior refinements as well as a host of BMW EfficientDynamics technologies. With sales already close to 300,000 units, the X1 boasts a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder engine (N20). This dynamic and efficient engine delivers maximum power of 240 hp at 5,000 rpm while the maximum torque of 260 lb-ft is developed at just 1,250 rpm and remains constant up to 4,800 rpm – making it the most powerful 4-cylinder engine ever used by BMW. In addition, the SUV also comes with a 6-cylinder option with 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. Aesthetically, precise lines, high-quality materials, and a sophisticated color scheme is present throughout. The 2013 BMW X1 will retail for between $31,545-$39,345 USD.
