Christian Cowan SS25 Soars to Starry New Heights In a Captivating Presentation
Models (and A-list guests alike) clutched their pearls on the BLADE East tarmac Sunday night, as they frantically scampered and casually sauntered down the riverside runway – with canned beverages, umbrellas and flashlights in hand.
Rain or shine, the stars always show out for Christian Cowan. A stellar selection of attendees – Yung Miami, Justin Theroux, Aliyah’s Interlude and Law Roach included – gathered along the Blade East tarmac on Sunday night to fawn over the designer’s latest ready-to-wear release, which came complete with a classically Cowan cinematic presentation in which models mimicked murder-mystery scenes while strutting, sauntering and even sprinting down the runway.
“Spluttering interrupts Wagner’s ‘Tristan und Isolde: Overture’, everyone turns abruptly, only to see Clarice falling to her side, clutching her Verdura Stardust necklace with one hand, the other leaning against the golden De Gournay wallpaper,” Cowan sets the scene in a statement.
“She stares with an unsettling horror at her martini which she had thought to herself had tasted strange, as the chilling thought dawned upon her, ‘It was poisoned!’ Her ankles give way, her lashes flutter, letting out a cry she grabs what’s nearest, pulling the tablecloth Mercedes got at Bergdorf last summer with all its delicious contents onto the polished parquet floor. Hysteria runs wild as the ladies aid Clarice, all the while trying to decipher, who could have done this?! They turn to see a flash of taffeta and fur running out the door. ‘AFTER HER’ they cry!!! What was promising to be Vienna’s ball of the season, now turns into the most glamorously chic hunt for a murderer…”
Cowan compiles a striking array of silver, black and, historically the most unused color for the brand, cobalt blue pieces, spanning his signature star motifs, floral detailing, ostrich plumes and hero silhouettes. Closed out by character Clarice, 30 models don both menswear and womenswear with the label’s elevated, sharp, layered-type of tailoring defining much of the range.
Backed by a soundtrack of Charli XCX and Ethel Cain, Cowan’s Spring/Summer 2025 truly was a movie, with ample props – Poppi beverages and SHED RAIN umbrellas to name a few – and the Manhattan skyline lighting the backdrop.
