Jack White sure is a busy man these days. While releasing his much-anticipated solo debut Blunderbuss, the Walt Disney Studios announced today at CinemaCon that the White Stripes and Raconteurs musician will write, produce and perform the score for Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer’s anticipated Disney flick The Lone Ranger. This also marks White’s first feature film-scoring project, not counting in his small role in Cold Mountain, where he sang several tradition songs. In an interview with Variety, producer Jerry Bruckheimer revealed that it was the movie’s director Gore Verbinski to recruit the musical talents of White.
“Gore hatched the idea and Johnny was thrilled with it. We’re all very excited to have him on board. Jack’s an amazing songwriter with a unique style. We’re going to have a little rock ‘n’ roll score, and we’re thrilled to hear his fresh take on the William Tell Overture.”
Disney’s The Lone Ranger hits theaters May 31, 2013. Sounds promising so far.
