Jay-Z “deeply disappointed” over Chris Brown and Rihanna collaboration

As expected, the collaborative reunion between Rihanna and Chris Brown just three years after he was arrested for assaulting her has caused plenty of discussion among fans and press. While some followers of the (potentially) former couple have applauded them to collaborate on multiple songs (1,2), New York Times‘ Jon Caramanica has shared his view of this development:
“It displays an advanced understanding of marketing and an understanding of moral obligations and ethics that’s not much more than rudimentary. It is a woman publicly accepting her abuser – nothing more, nothing less.”
A sentiment that RiRi’s mentor and friend, Jay-Z is likely to share. According to Radar Online, the mogul is “deeply disappointed” by the Carribbean singer’s decision to spend time with Chris – especially since she sought comfort and advice from him after the 2009 assault. A source close to the situation has revealed:
“Jay was absolutely disgusted by what Chris did to Rihanna. Jay doesn’t understand how a man could ever lay hands on a woman; it just goes against who he is and about. Chris is absolutely dead to Jay, he wants nothing to do with him ever. Now that Rihanna is hooking up with Chris and recording songs with him, Jay is deeply disappointed in her actions. He can’t fathom why Rihanna is doing the things she is doing.”
In addition, Jay is also worried about the effect of this artistic reunion will have on her fans.
“He understands the need for forgiveness, but he is adamant that Rihanna shouldn’t forget what Chris did to her. Jay wonders what kind of message this is sending to Rihanna’s young female fans.”
