While Bob Marley’s classic and universally likable music has stood the test of time since his death in 1981, his family and others close to him have seldom opened up about his personal influence as a father or the atmosphere in Jamaica during his ascent to global fame. Now, Academy Award-winning director Kevin Macdonald wishes to tell this rarely illuminated story with Marley, which is set to premiere at the Berlin Film Festival and SXSW in March. It will be appearing in theaters as well as video-on-demand on April 20.
