The Karhu Trampas was once standard issue to Finnish Olympic athletes and more than 20 US colleges, so outstanding during the ’60s that legendary distance coach Arthur Lydiard deemed it “the best training shoe in the world.” For 2012, the Trampas returns from the archives in its original form, a once-innovative silhouette that today is as suitable for city streets as it was on the running track. Durable, yet supple leathers make up the shoes uppers, while padded heels, Karhu’s signature ‘M’ shaped branding and padded rubber soles round out the rest of the sneaker. In both low and mid-cut forms, this Finnish sneaker classic from Karhu is available now at the label’s online store.
