Having been focused on various projects and collaborations for five long years, Shepard Fairey is set to display a new body of work on October 19 at the StolenSpace Gallery. In his upcoming solo exhibition “Sound & Vision,” Fairey pays homage to legendary musician David Bowie through a number of painting expressed through an assortment of mixed mediums. The paintings involve canvas, retired stencil collages, works on paper, rubylith cuts as well as serigraphs on wood, metal and paper. With music being such a tremendous source of inspiration, Fairey reached out to producer and DJ, Z-Trip to collaborate on a soundtrack fitting to his visuals. Embodied throughout the pieces, a strong social and political message persists in an attempt to evoke strong emotions, whilst at the same time connecting with the audience.
