Peter Bjorn and John - Try a Little Tenderness (Otis Redding Cover)

Earlier this year, The Onion-affiliated entertainment website The A.V. Club decided to once again enact their undercover program for musical guests that visit the office. With the help of their readers, the folks over there picked out 25 tracks from the past and present for visiting bands to cover on camera. Each band gets to pick one song to perform, and with only two songs left on the list, Swedish trio Peter Bjorn and John chose Otis Redding’s “Try a Little Tenderness.” Redding fans know the song as one of the 1960s soul singer’s many classics, but others may recognize it as the backbone of Kanye West and Jay-Z’s Watch the Throne single, “Otis.” For this performance though, Peter Bjorn and John give it their signature indie-pop spin.
