Adding up to the already impressive lineup, Beyoncé announced that she will take the stage on this year’s MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday. Queen Bey will return to the VMA stage for the first time since 2009 to perform material off her latest chart-topping offering 4. In addition, the iconic songstress is nominated for three Moonmen this year including Best Female Video, Best Choreography, and Best Cinematography for “Run the World (Girls).” Beyoncé was originally set to be only a presenter. Amy Doyle, Executive Producer of the 2011 VMAs said:
“Beyoncé has delivered some of the most legendary and memorable performances in VMA history, we are so excited she’ll be returning to the VMA stage this year. Everyone will be talking about how she set the VMA stage on fire-yet again!”
Beyoncé will join fellow performers Lady Gaga, Adele, Bruno Mars, Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Pitbull, Ne-Yo and Young the Giant whereas Nicki Minaj, Drake, Rick Ross and Odd Future have been confirmed as presenters. UK’s Jessie J will serve as the evening’s house artist. Tony Bennett will introduce a musical tribute to the late Amy Winehouse. The 2011 MTV VMAs will air live from the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday, August 28 at 9 p.m. EST.
