There is no doubt that Katy Perry is one of the most successful pop artists in recent times. MTV seems to agree as the list of 2011 MTV Video Music Awards nominees does indicate something like that. With nine nominations for the 28th edition of the MTV Video Music Awards, Ms. Perry is leading the chart. The singer is followed by Adele and Kanye West with seven nominations each. Next in line is Bruno Mars with four nods followed by Beyoncé, Eminem, Lady Gaga, 30 Seconds to Mars and Nicki Minaj having three nods each. Odd Future’s Tyler, the Creator scores two including Best New Artist and Video of the Year for “Yonkers.“ The ceremony takes place at the NOKIA Theater in Los Angeles on August 28.
