The 2011 BET Awards went off at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles
The 2011 BET Awards went off at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles last night. Actor/comedian Kevin Hart had the honors to lead the audience throughout the evening that included numerous memorable moments provided by Alicia Keys, Drake, Lil Wayne, Beyoncé, Bruno Mars and much more. However, the uncontested man of the evening was Chris Brown by collecting five trophies, including male R&B artist, video of the year and collaboration for “Look at Me Now.” Honorees Steve Harvey and Patti LaBelle received the prestigious Humanitarian and Lifetime Achievement Award respectively. As far as performances are concerned, this sure was a night to remember. The winning man himself, C. Breezy, delivered a dance-heavy medley of tracks from F.A.M.E., his first No. 1 album, and performed alongside Big Sean. DJ Khaled set the introduction for the monster “I’m On One” featuring Young Money’s very own Drizzy Drake, Rick Ross and Lil Wayne who made an entrance to remember ascending from beneath the stage floor shirtless, wearing an American flag-themed khakis gripping a microphone. Promoting the release of the 10th anniversary edition of her debut album Songs in A Minor, Alicia Keys offered a more than memorable performance. The famed songstress turned in a stunning medley that included “Typewriter,” “A Woman’s Worth” with Bruno Mars, “Maybach Music 2” with Rick Ross, and “Fallin.” Beyoncé was beamed in from her Glastonbury festival debut, where she delivered a charging performance of the new single “Best Thing I Never Had” and “End of Time.” Though satellite performances are nothing new for awards shows, she was the first artist to perform on the network via satellite.
