visvim Navajo Blanket Collection

visvim will be presenting a series of vintage Navajo blankets this weekend at F.I.L., offering some for sale while exhibiting others, although no specific store is mentioned. Creative Director Hiroki Nakamura breaks down his thoughts on the collection: “I realized upon visiting the Navajo reservation that the things they create are harmoniously in balance with their surrounding landscapes, which are very dynamic and colorful. On one hand existed an aesthetic consciousness that is non-uniform and rugged yet somehow harmonious. Its European equivalent contrast was very fine and sophisticated. These two aesthetic sense blended into something new within continuous encounters between these two differing cultures. I felt that this consciousness influenced the core of American culture itself. This vintage blanket collection hailing from the 19th to early 20th century has provided me with much inspiration. From this weekend, a part of this collection will be exhibited at F.I.L. and will also be available for sale. We look forward to your visit.”
